2013 MTV Video Music Awards Nominations


MTV have revealed the official nominations for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, which is set to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on August 25th. Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead the pack with 6 nominations each. Bruno Mars managed to grab 4 nods, while Pink, Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus and Thirty Seconds To Mars got 3 each. Taylor Swift, Drake, Calvin Harris and Fun. are nominated for 2 each.

Tyga On MTV’s Bustas [Video]

Back in ’08, MTV was taping a game show called “Bustas” hosted by Kurupt. Luckily, the show was shelved. But somehow TMZ have obtained footage from the show and it features a young Tyga. In the clip, Tyga says he had it easy growing up and lived in the Valley. He also participates in a rap battle and ends up getting booed.

2012 MTV Video Music Awards Nominations

This morning, MTV announced the nominations for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards and unveiled the first two VMA performers. The show will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on September 6th. Hitting the stage will be One Direction and Alicia Keys, who will premiere a new song from her upcoming album.

Rihanna and Drake lead the nominations with 5 nods each, followed by Katy Perry who has 4. Beyonce, Frank Ocean, M.I.A., The Throne and Coldplay were able to rack up 3 nominations. Other nominees are Kanye West, Gotye, Black Keys, Skrillex, fun., Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Lana Del Ray, Avicii, One Direction, Childish Gambino, Usher, A$AP Rocky and more.

Chief Keef Signs To Interscope

Chief Keef has inked a deal with Interscope records. He made the announcement to MTV yesterday during ATL’s Hpt 107.9′s Birthday Bash.

“I’ve been talkin’ to a lot of labels, but I just noticed that Interscope got people like 50, Eminem. ”They was talkin’ good to me. They was talkin’ like I was talkin’ and I liked that. All these other labels, I was talkin’ to ‘em, but it’s time anyway for me and I’m goin’ with Interscope.”

“There will be days when I walk in an arena and people will cheer and then there might be days when I walk in an arena and people might boo, but it all sounds the same to me because it’s all just noise that lets me know that I’m relevant,” Drake said, sharing some words of wisdom that was given to him by boxing champ Floyd Mayweather.

“I don’t get booed,” Drizzy continued. “I don’t face that. I mean he faces that challenge but my challenge is more with social media and open opinions and people just feeling like they need to talk.”

Drake Talks 2 Chainz Collaboration [Video]

Speaking in a conference call earlier today, Drake said that he will be releasing music with his Club Paradise tourmates that he has yet to work with. That means: J. Cole, Waka Flocka Flame, Meek Mill, 2 Chainz and French will all be able to say they have a track with Drizzy.

“I have very strong alliances with these guys that are on this tour with me,” Drake said during a conference call Tuesday (April 24). “I guess it’s safe to say now that anybody that I didn’t have a song with before, I have a song with now. I made sure of that.”

[…]“Along with this tour, fans are also going to get some exciting musical material that will probably end up dropping a few days before the tour, so that we can perform it on tour,” Drizzy said.

“On this tour, I encourage people to get there early, because it’s more [of] a festival vibe, if anything,” he said. “It’s one of those days that’s it’s going to start during the sunlight and the sun’s going to drop, it’s outdoors, it’s summertime … I want people to make it a day.”
