The former N.W.A. kingpin channeled that determination into the long-gestating follow-up 2001, which brought back previous collaborators like Snoop Dogg alongside his latest protégé, Eminem. The album was an immense success, anchored by now classic singles ‘Still D.R.E.,’ ‘Forgot About Dre,’ and ‘The Next Episode’. To mark the 20th anniversary of its release, Dre and music mogul Jimmy Iovine reminisce about the album’s creation and its legacy.

Film Director Allen Hughes Reveals Secrets about Dr. Dre & Death Row + Talks “The Defiant Ones”

Iconic film director, Allen Hughes joined Sway in the Morning for the second time. You may know his work from directing movies like; Menace II Society, Dead Presidents, The Book of Eli and more — and now he’s back to talk about his newest piece of work — The Defiant Ones. A four-part documentary series that tells the stories of Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre.

While on Sway in the Morning, Hughes opened up about stories we never knew about in Hip-Hop’s heyday.

Young Buck & DJ Whoo Kid gives the streets a midnight snack. ‘It’s All On Me’ is a remix from Dr. Dre’s recent Compton: A Soundtrack album, and Buck kept BJ The Chicago Kid’s hook in tact. Buck felt a need to address all the rumors of being sent back to the pen, and also vented about various socio-economic issues plaguing these inner cities.

Dr. Dre Tops Forbes 2014 Hip-Hop Cash Kings List


Dr. Dre is back on top of the Forbes Hip-Hop Cash Kings List for 2014. After Apple purchased Beats earlier this year his earnings are at $620 Million, which is more than anyone else on the list combined. Apple Officially Announces It’s Acquiring Beats Music and Beats Electronics


Apple has officially announced that it’s agreed to acquire the subscription streaming music service Beats Music, and Beats Electronics, which makes the popular Beats headphones, speakers and audio software.

As part of the acquisition, Beats co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre will join Apple. Apple is acquiring the two companies for a total of $3 billion, consisting of a purchase price of approximately $2.6 billion and approximately $400 million that will vest over time.

“Music is such an important part of all of our lives and holds a special place within our hearts at Apple,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “That’s why we have kept investing in music and are bringing together these extraordinary teams so we can continue to create the most innovative music products and services in the world.”

“I’ve always known in my heart that Beats belonged with Apple,” said Jimmy Iovine. “The idea when we started the company was inspired by Apple’s unmatched ability to marry culture and technology. Apple’s deep commitment to music fans, artists, songwriters and the music industry is something special.”

Fif keeps the music coming this time dropping one called ‘Smoke’ which features Trey Songz. It is produced by Dr. Dre, with co-production by Dawaun Parker. Animal Ambition is set to hit stores on June 3rd.
