Joey Bada$$ On ‘1999’, Using Type-Beats and Capital STEEZ Competition | For The Record

In 2012, Brooklyn MC Joey Bada$$ dropped his debut mixtape 1999 at only 17 years old. At the time, free mixtape sites like DatPiff were a major distribution platform for hip-hop artists. Now, the music industry has moved on to streaming services and the Pro Era rapper recently celebrated the project’s six-year anniversary by bringing it to Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL, and Google Play. To mark the occasion, Joey sat down with Rob Markman on the latest episode of Genius’ ‘For The Record.’
